MathMagic ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered mathematics tutoring application for children aged 5–14, developed by UglyDucklings Studio. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our app.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We are committed to child safety. MathMagic does not:

• Collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information from children
• Store chat messages or homework queries on our servers beyond the active session
• Track location data
• Share any data with third-party advertisers
• Display any advertisements
• Build user profiles for marketing purposes

3. Optional Account (Google Sign-In)

Parents may optionally create an account using Google Sign-In to access features like progress saving and the parent dashboard. If used:

• We receive only your Google display name and email address
• This information is used solely to identify your account within the app
• It is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties
• You may delete your account at any time by contacting us

4. AI Chat (Powered by Claude AI)

MathMagic uses Claude AI (by Anthropic) to power Maxi's responses. When a child sends a message:

• The message text is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response
• Messages are not stored permanently by us
• Anthropic's own privacy policy applies to API usage: anthropic.com/privacy
• The AI is strictly filtered to discuss mathematics only

5. Subscriptions & Payments

MathMagic Plus subscriptions are processed through Google Play. We do not handle or store payment card details. All billing is managed by Google and subject to Google's privacy policy.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)

We take children's privacy extremely seriously and comply with:

• COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act)
• GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)
• UK GDPR and the Age Appropriate Design Code

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures. The app operates primarily client-side, meaning most data never leaves your device. Session data is cleared when the app is closed.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request access to any data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
